Gem State Academy Gardens
Gem State Academy Gardens is a small farm at a great school–Gem State Adventist Academy in rural Caldwell ID. They aim to grow happy productive adults, and believe work is as important as Algebra for students and growing food can be fun!
Continuing this summer, with the help of their student employees, they’ll be growing delicious produce for our CSA GardenBoxes and a GardenStand,
Gem State Academy has been growing students since 1918. During some of those years they’ve had a dairy, bakery, and grown food. During the 1930’s students sold vegetables from the farm gardens to the surrounding community, as well as for use in the school cafeteria. One student recalls an abundance of lentils one year, which were served more ways than they thought possible!
