Red Falcon Ranch is a family owned, women operated angora goat ranch that began in 2005. Angela oversees the ranch with the help of her two daughters, Rachel and Sarah. Rachel and Sarah are University of Idaho alums that have moved back home to work on the ranch. Rachel manages day-to-day operations. Sarah is the sales and marketing manager for their brand, Caprine.

Angora goats produce mohair – a silky and lustrous natural fiber known as the Diamond fiber. The angora goats at Red Falcon Ranch are a prestigious and award-winning herd recognized for their excellent color and fineness.

Angora goats are an ancient breed of goat that has been selectively bred for thousands of years to become the luxurious animal they are known as today. They are the most unique and beautiful-looking goat due to their mohair which grows in silky ringlets. Angora goats are known for their calm and gentle temperament whilst having a bubbly personality. The Abraham’s give their goats time to grow and develop as angoras are a slow-growing breed. Thus, Red Falcon Ranch is renowned for well-bodied goats with exceptional fleeces and excellent disposition. 

Humane and ethical treatment of their goats is a must and Red Falcon Ranch is a committed member of the American Mohair Assurance program.

In addition, “all of our goats are treated with love and respect and each one is thoughtfully named. They are confident and calm goats and that starts with spending time with them when they are babies. They are much easier to work with when they are tame”, Rachel shares.

Rachel shears their 90+ herd every spring and fall to harvest the mohair fleeces. Angela and Sarah go through every fleece to ensure that they are in pristine condition for further processing. Most of the lower micron mohair is turned into socks and throws under their brand Caprine. Angela uses the remaining mohair for her own hand spinning and weaving.
