Idaho rAISED Sheep

Raising sheep is one of Idaho’s oldest agricultural traditions and with just over 210,000 head, Idaho ranks in the top ten states in the nation for sheep and lamb production. Idaho Sheep are shorn for their thick, fluffy fleece, which produce yarn and other textiles. Sheep and lamb also provide us with a rich array of products including milk, cheese, lanolin, lamb and mutton, and even leather!

Locally raised Idaho lamb is a versatile meat that can be cooked in many ways, and Idaho Preferred sheep herders and ranchers offer a variety of cuts.
