Our Story

Global Gardens & Global Lounge

The West Bench Farmers Market was born from an idea put forward by two local nonprofits, Global Lounge and Global Gardens.

​With overlapping missions, the organizations believed Boise was ready for a new farmers market — one with an international flair — located in the West Bench neighborhood. As a result, Global Gardens applied for and received a sizable USDA grant to help launch the market, with plans to gradually transfer more ownership responsibilities to Global Lounge.

The market’s primary goal is to provide a fresh food resource to a diverse community while creating economic opportunities for small-scale producers of ethnic goods and produce.

Through our dynamic market, we aim to strengthen connections, educate, and inspire a more resilient and interconnected community, food culture, and city.
