Thank Your Favorite Organic Farmers- It's Idaho Organic Week
To honor Idaho’s organic producers, Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter has declared the week of July 20-26, Idaho Organic Week. This marks the fourth annual Idaho organic week, when Idahoans from across Idaho celebrate the importance of organic producers, processors and distributors in Idaho.
Idaho has over 230 organic operations that provide a diverse selection of food and beverages including vegetables, meat and dairy products, as well as non-food crops such as hay and barley. In fact, Idaho ranks in the top 15 in the nation for the production of several organic crops. These include barley, hay, potatoes, grapes, beef, wheat and oilseed.
Several producers, retailers, farms and other organizations have joined in the effort to showcase Idaho’s diverse organic products and highlight Idaho organic producers. In the past, the week has been highlighted with tours of organic farms, sampling of organic products at the Boise Co-op, and other retail promotions.
Organic advocates across the state are encouraged to celebrate the bounty of Idaho agriculture this week and every week by choosing Idaho organic products!
Celebrate with us this important movement in food production and get your organic-grown food and beverages at Farmers Markets, through local producers, at restaurants or participating retailers. Thank you for supporting Idaho agriculture.
