Henggeler Packing Company
Henggeler Packing Company, established in Fruitland, Idaho, has been a cornerstone of the region’s fruit industry since its inception in 1908. The company began with C.B. Henggeler planting fruit trees on his farm, and his family’s efforts expanded to a robust orchard with the support of horse-drawn machinery. In 1943, Charles’ sons Tony and Joe, along with J.A. McMillan, formally founded Henggeler Packing Company.
Despite early challenges like crop failures, the company achieved success by 1945 and adopted the “Fortress” label, inspired by World War II bombers, Henggeler Packing Company has continuously evolved to meet modern standards while maintaining its commitment to quality. Transitioning from wooden baskets to cardboard boxes and adopting advanced controlled atmosphere storage, the company has embraced innovation over the years. Now managed by the fourth generation—Kelly, Ryan, and Chad—Henggeler Packing Company focuses on both excellence and sustainability.
Operating under the trusted “Fortress” label, Henggeler Packing delivers high-quality fruit in recyclable packaging and refrigerated containers for markets worldwide. For over a century, they have been dedicated to providing nutritious, locally-grown produce while upholding their tradition of excellence. Look for apples, peaches, plums, and cherries under the Fortress label at local retailers and fruit stands across the state!
