Gallup Family Farms

The Gallups are committed to offering farm-fresh products reminiscent of the wholesome foods enjoyed by past generations. They grain-finish their beef to enhance flavor and quality, provide raw, unpasteurized dairy products, and create tallow-based soaps to celebrate a “nose-to-tail” philosophy. Their mission is to provide a direct connection to the farm, where simple, quality ingredients are used to craft products that nourish and delight.

John and Melanie (Mel) Gallup, from Gooding, Idaho, bring a lifetime of experience to their work on their family farm. Having raised cattle for most of their lives, John—a large animal veterinarian with a deep passion for cows—found a kindred spirit in Mel. They established their beef herd in 2008, and in 2009, their milking herd began with the need to replace a lost calf from their beef cows.

In 2014, Mel founded a handmade soap company using beef tallow, inspired by the desire to utilize as much of the animal as possible during butchering. With a focus on creating products that could also aid family skin concerns, Mel began selling these tallow-based soaps at farmers’ markets, a venture that soon expanded to include raw milk and farm-to-table beef for their local community.
