The Berry Ranch

For the Health of it

After years working in the seed research business, Fred Schreffler decided it was time for a change and opened The Berry Ranch in 1992.

The Berry Ranch is a farm where people can buy produce, pick their own, and meet the people who grow their food. Fred provides a place where the community can pick berries in the summer and pumpkins in the fall. The farm grows strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, summer and winter squash, sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and more – all of which are no-spray. Everything the farm sells is grown or raised on the premises.

Fred believes that food itself is an experience and wants not only to grow good produce, but to help people learn how and where their food is grown. He strives to help urban consumers make the vital connection between agriculture and food and understand the farm to table process. In the summer and fall, fresh produce can be purchased Monday through Saturday in the farm store, which once was a dairy barn.

The Berry Ranch is closed during the winter months. For more information go to www.theberryranch.com or call (208) 466-3860.
